1. The service
PageUp is a reading-practice platform for schools: students take comprehension quizzes on books they've read, earn points and badges, and teachers and school leaders get dashboards, reports, and reward-goal tools. These Terms are an agreement between PageUp and the school or district that subscribes ("you"). By creating a school account, or by using PageUp on behalf of a school, you accept these Terms.
2. Accounts & who may use PageUp
PageUp accounts are provisioned for schools — leaders, teachers, and their students. You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide at signup and for the activity that happens under your school's accounts. Staff must keep their sign-in credentials confidential. Student accounts are created and managed by the school. We don't offer individual, family, or homeschool accounts at this time.
3. Fees, payment & the 30-day money-back guarantee
The subscription is a flat $1,000 per school per year, covering unlimited students and teachers at that school. Payment is due at signup (card) or per the invoice we issue. 30-day money-back guarantee: if PageUp isn't a fit, tell us within 30 days of your first payment and we'll refund it in full. After that window, fees are non-refundable except where required by law. Subscriptions renew annually; we'll invoice or remind you before renewal, and you can cancel any time from your billing page — cancellation stops future billing and access runs through the period you've paid for.
4. Student data & privacy
We operate as a school official under FERPA, process student data only to provide the service, align with COPPA, and never sell student data or use it for advertising. The details — what we collect, how it's protected, retention, and deletion on request — live in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms. The school remains responsible for obtaining any consents it needs from families under its own policies and applicable law.
5. Acceptable use
Don't misuse the service: no attempting to access other schools' data, probing or disrupting our systems, scraping the quiz library, reselling access, or using PageUp for anything unlawful. Quiz content, including questions and the library catalog, is for your school's classroom use inside PageUp. We may suspend accounts that put the service or student data at risk while we work with you to resolve the issue.
6. Your content & ours
Your school's data stays yours. You give us the limited rights needed to host and process it to run the service. PageUp's software, design, quizzes, and branding are ours (or our licensors') and are protected by intellectual-property law. Book titles, authors, and cover references belong to their respective rights holders — PageUp quizzes are original assessments about those books.
7. Service changes & availability
We improve PageUp continuously and may add, change, or retire features. We aim for high availability but don't promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. If we ever discontinue PageUp entirely, we'll give you reasonable notice and a pro-rata refund of prepaid fees for the unused period.
8. Disclaimers & limitation of liability
PageUp is provided "as is." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties, and our total liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or the service is limited to the amount your school paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
9. Termination
You can stop using PageUp and cancel at any time. We may terminate or suspend for material breach of these Terms if it isn't cured after we notify you. On termination, we'll make your school's data available for export for a reasonable period, then delete it per the Privacy Policy.
10. Changes to these Terms & contact
We may update these Terms as the service evolves; material changes will be announced on this page (and by email for active schools) before they take effect, and continued use after that constitutes acceptance. These Terms are governed by the laws of the state in which PageUp is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Questions? Reach us at cs@pageupreading.com.
